A prince from a small kingdom wanted to marry the emperor's daughter, so he sent a beautiful rose from his father’s grave and a singing nightingale to her. The princess did not want either the rose or the nightingale because they were genuine, and she forbade the prince from coming to visit her.
The prince then disguised himself, smeared brown and black paint on his face, and took a job as a swineherd with the emperor.
